An IEEE Student Branch provides opportunities to meet and learn from fellow IEEE Student and Graduate Student Members and engage with professional IEEE members locally. An active IEEE Student Branch can be one of the most positive elements of your academic career, offering programs, activities, and professional networking opportunities that build critical skills outside of the classroom. An IEEE Student Branch gives students a community of peers and a connection to faculty and industry professionals who drive innovation in countless technical fields.

Getting Started with forming a Student Branch

The first step in forming an IEEE Student Branch is to complete the online Petition Form. You will need to have faculty and department support as well as signatures of at least twelve (12) active IEEE Student and/or Graduate Student Members.

The petitioner should be an active Student/Graduate Student Member of the Student Branch and agree to be the Interim Student Branch Chair until Election for the Executive Committee

Endorsements from Institutional Department Head (Need not be an IEEE Member but should have an IEEE Web Account), one Faculty Counsellor (IEEE Membership Grade of Graduate Student Member or higher) and two Faculty Members (IEEE Membership Grade of Graduate Student Member or higher) teaching actively in IEEE Designated fields of interest are mandatory. 

Endorsers will receive the petition for endorsement once verified by the IEEE Staff.

Signatures of 12 active IEEE Members (Student/Graduate Student Membership Grade) is also required. Qualified Members receive the petition for signatures once it has been Endorsed

Approvals from the Region Director and Region Student Activities Chair is the last step in forming a Student Branch.
