IEEE REGION 10

STUDENT ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE

OUTREACH PROGRAMME

GOALS FOR THE PROGRAMME

Under the Outreach Programme of the R10 SAC, the Asia-Pacific Region has been categorized into 5 different zones, as illustrated in the Zonal Map above: West Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, North Asia and Australia-New Zealand (ANZ). In this model, each of these zones is appointed to a Zonal Student Representative (ZSR), and under him/her, a team of Sub-Zonal Student Representatives (SZSRs).

As such, each SZSR will be monitoring and assisting 3-4 IEEE Sections; each ZSR will be looking after their team of SZSRs, and in turn, a zone of several IEEE Sections; and at the very top, the Regional Student Activities Chair (RSAC) and the Regional Student Representative (RSR) will be looking after the 5 ZSRs and in turn, the Student Activities in the entire Region. In this regard, the role of the Outreach Programme Coordinators, is to mediate between the 5 ZSRs and the RSAC & RSR, in formulating and executing all the necessary plans/initiatives to:

  • Sustain and improve membership retention of IEEE Student Members.
  • Assist Section SAC Chairs and Section Student Representatives (SSRs) in their roles and duties, alongside reactivating and improving dormant Sections’ vitality and performance.
  • Educate/train Student Branch Officers and encourage them in timely reporting practices via vTools, applying for student contests, award applications, claiming annual rebates, etc.
  • Share important notices, knowledge and resources around the year via a series of webinars featuring notable speakers and leaders from IEEE.
  • Collaborate with other IEEE Organizational Units (eg. IEEE-USA, IEEE YP) in conducting joint programs (eg. 2017 IEEE R10 SPAx) to offer a more immersive experience and range of benefits for IEEE Student Members.
